Full-Stack Developer

My Digital
Realm —
Built By Hand.

I'm Marcus Webb. I design and build robust full-stack applications, obsess over database query efficiency, and turn tangled architecture into clean, scalable systems. Three technology stacks. Twelve years of production experience. Zero infrastructure outages I didn't learn from.

Who's Visiting?

Hey Devs!

Welcome to my corner of the web. Here you'll find deep-dives on the architectural patterns I've implemented, the challenges I've overcome, and my workflow for optimizing database queries and building resilient microservices. I'm particularly obsessed with query planning and index strategy — let's talk about your latest performance bottleneck.

Hello Recruiters!

Thank you for stopping by. I'm a results-oriented developer with 12+ years of experience delivering robust, scalable solutions. I thrive in collaborative environments where ownership is expected and quality is non-negotiable. Need someone who can lead a full-stack team and architect the next generation of your platform? That's me.

Hey There!

Welcome! This site is a showcase of things I've built and tinker with. Think of it as a digital workshop — some projects are polished products, others are experiments in progress. If something catches your eye or you want to know how I built it, reach out. I love talking shop with anyone who's curious.

Cool Projects

Three recent builds that showcase different parts of my stack — a data-heavy analytics platform, a mobile-first field tool, and an open-source library.

PulseBoard

Analytics Dashboard

PulseBoard — Real-Time Analytics

A real-time analytics dashboard processing over 2.1M events/hour with sub-100ms query responses. Built with React, WebSockets, and a Go-lang ingestion pipeline. Solved the caching puzzle with Redis streams and sharded PostgreSQL — cut p95 latency by 62%.

FieldNote

Mobile Field Tool

FieldNote — Offline-First Mobile App

A React Native field-inspection app for utility crews. Handles offline data collection and syncs to the cloud when connectivity returns. Built for 400+ concurrent users. The sync engine handles 15,000+ records per day with zero data loss — a huge win over the paper-based process it replaced.

#ReactNative #TypeScript #SQLite #OfflineSync

querykit

Open Source Library

querykit — SQL Query Builder

An open-source SQL query builder for TypeScript that generates type-safe queries at compile time. 1,800+ GitHub stars, 14 contributors, and a 98.5% test coverage rate. Originally built to solve my own frustration with string-based SQL, now used in production by 40+ companies.

What People Say

"Marcus is the rare engineer who can diagnose a production incident at 3am, fix it with surgical precision, and write a post-mortem that the whole team actually reads. He took us from 'things are broken' to 'this is genuinely reliable.' "

— Sarah Jennings

VP of Engineering, Velocity Systems

"We brought Marcus in as a contractor for a two-week audit. He ended up rebuilding our entire data pipeline, and the improvement was night and day. Our dashboards finally load in seconds, not minutes."

— Priya Sharma

Director of Product, Brightleaf Analytics

Common Questions

I love getting my hands into performance-critical systems — data pipelines, real-time applications, microservices that need to be fault-tolerant. There's something satisfying about taking a slow API and making it fast, or untangling a mess of interconnected services into something clean and maintainable. I also care deeply about the developer experience, so building internal tools and open-source libraries feels great.

Both, honestly. I've done everything from early-stage startups that needed a MVP shipped in six weeks to enterprise clients where the work is about modernizing a 15-year-old codebase. I like the energy of startups and the scale of enterprises. The common thread is a team that values doing things properly — writing tests, thinking about architecture, and not cutting corners.

Yes — I typically take on one or two contract engagements per year. I'm especially open to performance audits, architecture reviews, and critical bug investigations that other teams have been stuck on for weeks. If you're facing a building that's on fire, I'll bring the extinguisher.
